(ARTS241) Graphic Design 1
Background
Last week in critique, it came up that there is not a required color class and that many people had not heard of Josef Albers, that’s kind of a bummer. He’s not for everybody but he has some great work you might want to look atObjective
In that spirit, if you want extra credit you can make a short book as an exploration of color and composition, which we’ve gotten to focus on less.Requirements
- At least 6 colors to create a color scheme
- Square pages in a 6 x 6 grid.
I recommend 12in. x 12in. Pages. - No strokes or outlines on your squares & rectangular shapes.
- At least 12 pages of different compositions. If you want to add a cover/inside cover/back cover etc. That’s cool but not required.
- If you want extra credit for it, you must submit it to me as a .pdf before next Wednesday
(Submit as spreads and not individual pages by 12/11/2019 @ 11:59PM)
Considerations
- Use the limitations to explore compositional possibilities
Many disconnected squares versus fewer and bigger squares. - Think about the flow of the document as a larger whole How is the balance of colors changing over time? How is the weight of the composition changing over time?
