Knitting Circle:
Making Mockups

Background

Mockups are a great way to add value to your portfolio website, they are also relatively easy to set up. If you don’t have access to good photography tools for your work or even a scanner, this is also a good solution that will look very professional. All that being said, I still think it is important to attach .pdfs of your work as well.

How to do them

The first thing you’ll need to do is acquire a Photoshop template at a size that is appropriate for or close to your cover image. Adobe Stock has quite a few, but you’ll found inumerable links with 20,000 BEST FREE MAGAZINE MOCKUP TEMPLATES EVER! if you do even a cursory search.

The photoshop template should have the cover or page imagery as a Smart Object, you can simply click into the Smart Object and replace it with your imagery, and you’ve got a great image.

Potential next step(s)

One thing I discovered in doing some research to see if things had changed at all is that Adobe makes something called Adobe Dimension which is designed for 3D objects. If you want to repurpose some logo designs quickly as packaging designs this’d be the way.
