Introduction
Below is a video by Not Just Bikes about a concept called third spaces. Third spaces are the term for a cheap or free space where people can meet. This leads to the generation of community and has a myriad of societal effects that are difficult to measure until they are gone, or other things like malls, “man caves,” or coworking spaces attempt to replace them.
To be clear this is not directly a video about getting a job, or how to use design to interface with capitalism. That being said, being able to discuss topics outside of literally acquiring skills is part of this class, being part of the class’s community, and the larger schools community. Additionally, the video mentions figures related to third spaces and jobs.
The video below is not the only one about the topic and you’re welcome to look at and bring other sources forward or reference other ones.
